Networking Tip #117
Credibility and Reliability
Rather than write an entire newsletter on these subjects, I have created a checklist of items for the reader to consider. Consider this an awakening and call to action to focus on some items that may need your attention for correction and/or improvement.

Here’s the list that comes to mind, much of which I base upon personal experience. I meet with about seventy-five people a week. Clients, prospects, friends, associates, acquaintances etc. in business and social settings. If I add additional contacts via telephone, that number swells to over 100.

This is a random checklist, there is no prioritization:
  1. Over promise
  2. Poor grooming
  3. No address on business card
  4. No business cards
  5. Poor table manners
  6. Always late for appointments
  7. Poor calendar (over/under book)
  8. Poor listener
  9. Poor communication skills
  10. Tell fibs
  11. Embellish
  12. Knock competition
  13. Blame economy too often
  14. No marketing plan
  15. No business plan
  16. Slow to change
  17. Does not follow up
  18. Fail to meet deadlines
  19. No show
  20. Does not deliver
  21. Punctuality
  22. Unsoliscitated talk about their business
  23. Shuns contact
  24. Feeble or no greeting
  25. Interrupts
No one is perfect. Use the list from time to time to check your credibility and reliability.
